'Pirates' and 'Witches And Wizards' At 'Meet The Storytellers'

National Storytelling WeekAs part of National Storytelling Week, The Historic Dockyard Chatham is inviting families to 'meet the storytellers' on Saturday 26th January and Saturday 2nd February.

Visitors can sign up to be a Pirate on Saturday 26th January and take home a copy of the 'articles' (rules of being a Pirate). They will hear of 'Calico Jack' and the female pirate 'Anne Bonny', handle props in the treasure chest and feel how heavy a cannonball is as they discover how it is fired - as well as making a piece of rope and taking it home as a souvenir.

Sorcery will be the order of the day at 'Witches and Wizards' on Saturday, 2nd February. Visitors will learn how to make a spell, meet the witch's cat, inspect the contents of the Spell Bag and listen to a magical story of witches and wizardry.

Each session will last for 2 hours at a ticket price of £5.00 per head. Discounts are available for annual ticket holders. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult and supervised at all times. Places are limited and must be pre-booked by calling 01634 823845. Information can be found on the dockyard's website www.thedockyard.co.uk.
