Measure for Measure
The North Wall
19 March - 12 April 2008
Booking opens 21 January 2008
Hot on the heels of Tales from the Brothers Grimm, which was enjoyed by audiences of over 13,000, Creation Theatre Company presents a rare opportunity to see Shakespeare's darkly comic masterpiece Measure for Measure. The performance takes place in an incredible new venue, Oxford's newest performing arts centre, The North Wall. Formerly a Victorian swimming pool, it has been ingeniously transformed into a state-of-the-art performance space.
Producer and Artistic Director of Creation Theatre Company, David Parrish announced "To bring theatre to wider audiences and to celebrate its latest exciting venue, Creation is offering a limited number of tickets for just £5". The offer applies to shows between Wednesday 19th March and Tuesday 25th March 2008, subject to terms and conditions. Early booking is essential - tickets go on sale on Monday 21st January 2008.
As one of Shakespeare's less frequently performed plays, a performance of Measure for Measure is seen as a great opportunity by artists and audiences alike. Lust and desire underlie a dramatic tale of justice, retribution and mercy with the sharp edge of Shakespeare's unashamed dark comedy.
Directed by Charlotte Conquest (Much Ado About Nothing 2004, As You Like It 2005, The Oxford Passion 2007), Measure for Measure promises to be another innovative, dynamic and highly visual performance for which Creation are renowned. The performance also sees returning actors Richard Kidd (The Taming of the Shrew 2007) and Amy Stacy (As You Like It 2005 and A Comedy Of Errors 2005) following their outstanding comic performances in Tales from the Brothers Grimm for winter 2007-2008.
