Ascot
A day at the races – have you ever considered it for a family day out? Perhaps not. But why not?!
Plan a trip to Ascot Racecourse and not only will you have a wonderful day out at the world’s most famous racecourse, you won’t have to pay an entry fee for any child you have in your party aged 16 and under, you won’t have to pay for any of the activities that they take part in on the day – as they are all free of charge and you will go away having had a full day out of fun and excitement.
A day at the races is perfect for any aged person –both adults and children alike – you can come to see the horses, perhaps want to try your luck with your betting ability, want to enjoy the beautiful landscaped grounds that the racecourse is located in, want to sample some of the wide range of food and drink items on offer or just want to say that you have been to Ascot – the greatest race track in the country and one of the top 3 racecourses in the world!
The racecourse has a fixture list programme packed full of Family Fun activities!
In July, on Sunday, 27th come to Hong Kong Day and off the track you’ll be able to see dragon and lion dancing, Chinese acrobatics, Kung Fu demonstrations, have your face painted, fortune read and much more – all free of charge!!
In August, on Saturday, 9th, visit The Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Day. This event is Britain's only jockeys' competition, where teams of riders from all over the world compete over six races for the trophy. The teams are Great Britain, Ireland, Europe and Rest of the World. The day is easy for everyone to follow- just pick one of the teams and follow and cheer them on throughout the day.
The race meeting in September is a must for culture vultures as the Ascot Arts Festival takes place on Sunday, 28th September. Children can join in the painting project for the day, which in 2008 will be a honeycomb of squares being painted up to form a giant portrait of Stubbs’ ‘Whistlejacket’ which will hang in the racecourse grounds after the event. The painting programme is open throughout the raceday for children to take part in (when they have time to stop playing on the Victorian carousel, slide and children’s ride which are free of charge to go on as many times as they would like to before they feel dizzy!)
On Saturday, 1st November – come racing and then stay for the fireworks spectacular – both the day and night entertainment are included in one ticket price, starting for adults at £13.50pp and children aged 16 and under get in for free. We have free fairground rides available all day and night for the whole family to enjoy.
Christmas is celebrated at Ascot and Father Christmas visits the racecourse on Friday, 19th & Saturday 20th December and welcomes every child to his grotto where they can meet him and receive a free traditional present plus, have their faces painted by some of his elves before the children leave and play on the children’s ride in the Winter Wonderland – all of this – plus racing to enjoy!
‘Free’ is the key word to remember about Ascot Family Fun Days.
Free, fun and fantastic is what you will think once you have spent a day at the races! Free entry for children aged 16 and under, fun activities to take part in and watch throughout the day plus fantastic racing at the world’s most famous racecourse.
