Oxfordshire
A must-visit for any Harry Potter fans! With many scenes filmed in and around Oxfordshire, you're set for a magical day out!
TV & Film Links
Oxford and Oxfordshire has an array of great activities and attractions for the whole family! With several links to TV and film, children will love discovering the real Hogwarts Hall at Christchurch Hall, reading a book from Duke Humfrey's (Hogwarts) library and visiting the set for scenes from 'The Golden Compass', (the film version of Philip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials') shot at Queen's College.
Continuing the Harry Potter links, visit Blenheim Palace, another set where scenes from the movies were filmed. The only private palace in England, with its magnificent State Rooms and acres of parkland, most people spend the whole day here. Explore the grounds after a guided tour of the palace itself, then relax with a picnic by the lake - you could even travel to Henley on Thames and visit the acclaimed River and Rowing Museum. If enthused, you’ll be in the perfect location to take to the water yourself.
History
Discover the Oxfordshire Museum - a wonderful introduction to the history and crafts of Oxfordshire. There are real dinosaur footprints in the walled dinosaur garden, with a life sized (model) Megalosaurus!
Exploring The Countryside
With so many choices of country walks, cycling, sailing or even punting, there are outdoor activities to suit everyone and every kind of budget.
