Upcoming Events in May
May's highlights include two bank holiday weekends with hundreds of events taking place across the South East for all the family. Spring Bank Holiday also marks the start of half term so there's plenty to keep the kids entertained.
The Hampshire County Fair returns to Netley Marsh for another year. Three large arenas featuring all day entertainment, attractions, dare devil stunts and country sports create a wonderful showpiece. May the fourth be with you on Star Wars Day as the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard hosts an intergalactic day of themed activities.
May is festival month in Brighton and this year is no exception with the Brighton Festival and Brighton Fringe Festival celebrating respective 50th and 10th anniversaries.
The much-loved Christchurch Food & Wine Festival Market will be returning to the town centre on Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th May with the chance to sample fine produce from locally sourced delights to across the globe. The second half of the month sees the equally palatable 1066 Food & Wine Festival in Hastings. There's certainly a theme developing in May as the region's world-class vineyards will be ready to show their quality during English Wine Week.
During May each year, Oxfordshire artists and crafts people have an opportunity to exhibit their work with more than 500 exhibitions across the county. Transport buffs will love the popular Basingstoke Transport Festival and the 900 vehicles on display at this free event while Beaulieu hosts Truckmania on May 29th and 30th.
From May 12th to 15th, Windsor plays host to the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations in a show Her Majesty The Queen is due to attend in person on the final night. Did you know that weekend is also National Mills Weekend?
