In the imposing shadow of Battle Abbey watch local teams compete in the difficult sport of marbles in this traditional annual competition dating back to 1945. Local pubs and clubs enter teams of 5 players and compete to win both the marbles and the fancy dress competition.
Teams are expected to take part with 'flick-off' at 10am. As ever, the rules include no 'donkey dropping' and the umpire's decision is not negotiable! We regret that teams cannot be entered on the day; however, do not despair because if you are not a member of a team you can always try your luck on the 'all-comers board' for spectators of all ages.
The children's Easter Bonnet competition is at 11.30am, with the free children's marble scramble immediately afterwards - see how many you can take home! 1,000 free marbles up for grabs! Please note that if you have children who want to enter the Bonnet competition there is no entry fee but we must know before hand so that an Easter Egg prize can be organized for every child taking part. Please contact the Battle Chamber for a form.
