Delightful Christmases past becomes reality at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard when visitors are magically transported into a Dickensian-style bygone era of snowy white streets with colourful characters, a festive fairground and seasonal carols.
Hearty food is on the menu in the largest Christmas Market on the South Coast, along with crafts and gifts, street entertainment, bawdy Music Hall, a nativity farm, a traditional 'green' Santa and Oliver Twist's gang in Fagin's Tavern.
The day closes with a twilight parade led by Queen Victoria in a beautiful horse-drawn carriage and set againist the backdrop of the ships in their illuminated glory.
