The Isle of Wight

The perfect break on the Isle of Wight consists of many elements; strolls along the beaches, fun at Blackgang Chine, animal magic at the Isle of Wight Zoo and reminders of this Dinosaur Isle’s prehistoric past.

Blackgang Chine is all about smuggling on the Isle of Wight.  Through the centuries, Blackgang Chine had a reputation for shipwrecks and gangs. Yet now it’s all about families and young children will just love the rides. Not far from Blackgang Chine is the Isle of Wight Zoo.  You might be surprised to find lions and tigers on the Isle of Wight yet you can see them, and lots of other animals, quite at home at the Isle of Wight Zoo. Around the coast from the Isle of Wight Zoo is Ventnor Botanic Gardens, plants thrive in the micro-climate here.

During 2011, the NatWest Island Games takes place on the Isle of Wight between the 25 June and 2 July and will be one of the most important sporting events in the UK in advance of the 2012 Games.    For the latest information please visite the Island Games 2011 official website.
