Canal Road

About

Canal Road holiday cottage in Thrupp is ideally located for an individual or family looking for a base to stay in the Oxford area from one week to several months. The cottage is perfectly located, 12 km from Oxford, 25 km from Banbury and on the edge of the Cotswolds. The holiday cottage is located along a quiet side road which runs parallel to the Oxford Canal and the canal itself is just a stone's throw from the front door. The stone built cottage was originally built around 1750 and is one of a terrace of cottages along the canal in Thrupp. The cottage was completely re-furbished and modernised to a high standard by the current owners. The original character of the interior has been carefully retained but with all the comforts of a modern home.

• The entrance to the cottage is off a quiet side road and the main door leads into the living room. The living room is furnished with a three seat sofa, chair, gas-fired ‘log-burner’ and built-in bookshelves and cupboards and the floor is carpeted.
• The living room is connected to the kitchen-dining room at the rear of the cottage, the kitchen has been refitted with lovely country cottage style work units and work top.
• There is ample work space to prepare meals for a family and you will find the kitchen fully equipped with standard cooking equipment and utensils. There is a washer-dryer, dishwasher, electric oven/hob, fridge freezer and microwave oven. The kitchen floor is tiled and easy to keep clean. The dining area is offset from the kitchen with an oak dining table and six dining chairs.
• The stair case to the first floor leads from the living room and the staircase is carpeted. The main bedroom is at the rear of the cottage and furnished with a double bed and built in wardrobes. The two single bedrooms are at the front of the cottage and furnished with single beds and built in wardrobes. The window overlooks the Oxford Canal.
• The bathroom is stylish and modern with bath and high quality shower over the bath. There is a wash basin and counter units.
• The cottage has a rear garden which is a quiet space to enjoy the sounds of the surrounding countryside.
• There is street parking outside and nearby the cottage.

The nearest shops are in the village of Kidlington which is 2km away with supermarkets, chemist and other shops and restaurants. The town of Woodstock is 4km away and one of the most pleasant and historically famous towns on the edge of the Cotswolds. In the town of Woodstock you can enjoy excellent shopping, fine dining at the Feathers hotel and restaurant and typically English pubs. You can also spend many days exploring the picturesque scenes of Blenheim Palace. There are two pubs in Thrupp within 3 minutes walk, both serving British pub food and frequented by the many passing holiday makers enjoying life on the Oxford Canal. The canal runs parallel with the River Cherwell which is a major tributary into the Thames. There are many picturesque walks along the canal and river which allow you to enjoy some of the best scenery of the Oxfordshire countryside, all within easy reach of the city of Oxford.
